Abstract

Several papers by Wiggins (building on ideas by Bo- den) have outlined a view of creative concept genera- tion as a very general search process, but that formal- isation has not been developed much in the past few years. Also, there are some aspects where clarification or spelling out of details would be useful. We present a re-formulation of the central ideas in Wiggins’s frame- work, with slightly more rigorous statements of the def- initions and a number of minor extensions. We also ex- plain how this framework relates to some hitherto com- pletely separate proposals by Ritchie.
