Abstract

This paper presents a multi-agent computational simulation of the effects on creativity of designers' simple social interactions with both other designers and consumers. This model is based on ideas from situated cognition and uses indirect observation to produce potential changes to the knowledge that each designer and consumer uses to perform their activities. These changes result in global, social behaviors emerging from the indirect interaction of the players with relatively simple individual behaviors. The paper provides results to illustrate these emergent behaviors and how the social interactions affect creativity.
