Juan Jesus Romero Cardalda

Wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit

Dr. Juan Jesús Romero Cardalda is an associate professor (“Profesor Contratado Doctor”) in the University of A Coruña, Spain, since 2006, after working as assistant professor in this University since 2000. He has also worked as computer science analyst and programmer for more than 4 years.

He has obtained the Ph. D. degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in the University of A Coruña in 2002, the Ms in Computer Science in 1999 and a Degree in Computer Science in 1996. The Phd thesis obtained “sobresaliente cum laude” (Upper second class honours) and was titled: “Evolutionary Methodology for Building Complex Cognitive Models. Exploring ‘Artificial Creativity’ in Music Composition”.

He co-founded and manages at present the “Creative Computer Group” of RNASA Lab (Artificial Neural Networks and Adaptive Systems laboratory) of the “Information and Communication Technologies” department of the University of A Coruña.

He is a chairperson in EVOMUSART, the Working Group of the EVONET European Network of Excellence dedicated to the application of Evolutionary Computation to Visual Art and Music. He is the responsible for several spanish and galician research projects.

His present research focuses on adaptive systems (evolutionary computation techniques and artificial neural networks) applied to computation creativity (visual art and music).
