Philip Galanter ist ein US amerikanischer Künstler mit dem Schwerpunkt Generative Kunst und ein Universitätsdozent (Assistant Professor) in Generativer Kunst und Physical Computing am Department of Visualization an der Texas A&M University.

Die wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten von Philip Galanter beschäftigen sich mit Generativer Kunst, Kunsttheorie und Komplexitätswissenschaft (Complexity Science). Er entwickelt eine Kunsttheorie, welche die Kluft zwischen Naturwissenaxhaften und Geisteswissenschaften überbrücken soll.
Seine akademische Ausbildung umfasst einen Bachelor of Arts in Philosophie an der Eastern Illinois University 1976 und einen Master in Visual Arts 1999.

Die künstlerischen Arbeiten von Philip Galanter umfassen das Design generativer Hardware Systeme, Sound Art und Musik, Installationen, digitale Fine Art Drucke und Tranzparentdrucke (light-box transparencies). Seine Arbeiten wurden in den USA, Kanada, den Niederlanden und Peru gezeigt. Als Kurator war er 2002 und 2003 an der Ausstellung ArtBots in New York City beteiligt und an COMPLEXITY, der ersten gößeren Kunstausstellung, die sich auf komplexe Systeme und Emergenz fokussierte.
